Journal: Examine your life- Do you like the way you are living? What is your purpose in life?

Current Event: cnn.com/studentnews

In Class: We filled out the philosophy/art section of your notes and held the socratic seminar.  If you were absent, make sure that you have answered the questions on your socratic seminar packet.

Homework: Make sure your packets are caught up, and that you have filled out your learning target guides up to day 5.

Journal: Who is/was the greatest military leader EVER?

In Class: Today we learned about Alexander the Great..... arguably the greatest  military leader of all time.  The important facts to remember are:
1. Cultural Diffusion- many cultures were 'blended' or came together
2. He spread his empire to India
3. He was undefeated.

We also introduced the 'Greece newscaster project'; if you were absent come see me about your group! We will be presenting/filming next Thursday 2/26

Homework: Make sure that you have read the socratic seminar paper, have answered the questions, and are prepared to participate in class!

Journal: Is America a direct democracy?

Current Event: None

In Class: Today we talked about Greek Democracy, and compared/contrasted Athenian democracy with American democracy (use PowerPoint day 2 to help you)

Homework: Start on your Greek Book Project! and please fill out the socratic seminar worksheet; you WILL NEED THIS IN CLASS

Journal: Have someone ever sacrificed for you? What? or Have you ever sacrificed for someone else? What?

In class: Today we started learning about Sparta! We filled out the top portion of the Sparta notes (*use PowerPoint Day 3) and started watching the History Channel video, "300: Rise of an Empire" with movie notes found under the Greece tab.  We also checked on our mummies.... they are mummifying quite nicely :)

Journal: How do you let someone know that you love them? What would you do for love?

In class: Today we started our Greece Unit! We completed page 1-2 in your note packet about geography, first people, Trojan War and Greek Gods. Make sure you that filled out the Learning Target for Day 1 :)

Homework: If you haven't finished the Greek Map, now is the time to do so!

Journal: What do you already know about Greece?

In class: We handed back Unit 1 tests; the class average was a 73% so good job! We talked about the procedure for test corrections (50% of your points back); you MUST follow this structure in order to get the points:
1. The Question you got wrong and WHY you chose the answer you did
2. The correct answer and WHY it is correct
3. Where you found your information ie. World Civ Textbook, class notes etc. ** you may use the internet as a source, however the source must be credible .edu, or .org NO wikipedia
I introduced your project for this unit- the Greek book. Come see me for details
We had our intro to Greece lesson, watching video clips and making inferences to Greek culture

Homework: Finish your Greece Map! and start on test corrections- they will be due the day of the Greece test
